Horus University AI Students Pay Official Visit to the Egyptian Air Academy to Strengthen Cooperation and Foster National Belonging

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa, Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence at Horus University, and within the framework of fruitful cooperation between Horus University and the Egyptian Armed Forces, and under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Defense, the university organized an official visit for a group of its students to the Egyptian Air Academy.

The visit was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Noha Hussein, with the participation of Colonel Magdy Abou El-Fadl, Military Advisor of the Popular Defense Forces, and with the support of the Youth Welfare Department at Horus University.

This visit reflects the faculty’s commitment to linking the field of Artificial Intelligence with the state’s strategic priorities—chief among them supporting the national defense system—by investing students’ potential in scientific projects that serve the vital needs of national institutions.

The visit was held under the auspices of:

  • Major General Pilot Staff Ahmed Sabry El-Shazly, Director of the Air Academy
  • Brigadier General Pilot Waleed Abdel Salam, Deputy Director of the Academy
  • Brigadier General Pilot Staff Ahmed Abdel Moneim, Senior Instructor of the Academy

They provided all support and facilities to ensure the success of this activity, as part of the Armed Forces’ strategy to open avenues of cooperation with civilian educational institutions.  The university delegation was welcomed by Colonel Pilot Staff Hazem Gerisha, Head of the Science Division at the Air Academy and Commander of the Air Show Team, and Colonel Pilot Salah Fawzy. The visit opened with a comprehensive presentation by the Air Academy cadets, highlighting the Academy’s history, objectives, and training system. This was followed by an interactive discussion session where officers answered the students’ questions, giving them deeper insight into the nature of study in military academies and the modern technologies employed there.

During the event, Dr. Noha Hussein delivered a motivational speech emphasizing the importance of employing Artificial Intelligence knowledge and skills in service of state institutions, particularly the Armed Forces. She stressed that AI is no longer just an academic discipline, but a strategic tool contributing to the advancement of defense and national security sectors, and that Horus University is committed to strengthening this role through innovative, applied student projects.

The visit also included a tour of the Air Academy, where students visited the engine laboratories and simulation rooms, learning about the latest educational tools used in pilot training. They also toured the aviation division, where Captain Pilot Mohamed gave a detailed explanation of the training and qualification system for Air Academy cadets, who are prepared in line with the latest scientific methods and global technologies to graduate as highly skilled and professional fighter pilots.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Horus University delegation expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Egyptian Armed Forces—its leadership and personnel—for their warm reception and constructive support, affirming that such visits are a true source of inspiration for students, enhancing their sense of pride and national belonging. They also reaffirmed the commitment of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence to linking modern specializations with national needs, and to contributing effectively to national causes through scientific research and practical application.
